People have assembled throughout the country to commemorate the second anniversary since the Hamas-led offensive on October 7th, 2023, as negotiations advanced in the neighboring country over an end to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The attack saw more than 1,200 people killed and 251 others captured back to Gaza as hostages. It was the most deadliest day for Jews since the World War II.

Israel answered by beginning a armed campaign in Gaza which has taken more than 67,000 people, as reported by the area's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are regarded as trustworthy by the UN and other global organizations.

"The bloodthirsty opponents have hit us hard, but they have not overcome us," the leader added on that day.

He also pledged to "realize all the goals of the war: the homecoming of all the kidnapped, the elimination of the Hamas government and the promise that Gaza will not present a threat to Israel".

Commemorative Events Across Israel

The national leadership postponed state remembrance events until October 16th - after the conclusion of the religious holiday season - but gatherings still occurred across the country on Tuesday.

A commemorative event for the relatives of Israelis killed in the Hamas attack was conducted in the coastal city. Arranged by the affected families, it was televised across Israeli television channels.

Hours earlier, a minute's silence was respected across the country.

Ceasefire Discussions in Egypt

Meanwhile, Israeli and Hamas delegations gathered in the North African Red Sea resort of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of indirect talks to review the provisions of the proposal.

A senior Palestinian official involved in the discussions said that an evening round of mediated discussions commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official said the earlier meeting finished without tangible results, amid disagreements over the recommended Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas demands to make certain Israel does not recommence fighting after the opening period of the agreement.

He commented that the discussions are "tough and have yet to deliver any real breakthrough," but pointed out that facilitators are striving to reduce the differences between the both parties.

Critical Points in Discussions

  • A lasting truce
  • The swap of the hostages still kept by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The pullout of troops from Gaza
  • Measures for assistance provision
  • Future administration of the region

Citizen Feeling

In the city's public square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose sibling endured the assault on the outdoor event, where 378 people were murdered and numerous more were captured by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No place seems like home any longer and until all the hostages return not a single person will be secure."

"Once we see all home again, we can feel relief once more. Then we can start to rebuild," she added.

In front of the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem, people congregated to express their solidarity for the loved ones of the abducted. Israel reports 48 remain in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are considered to be alive.

Activist Atalia Regev stated: "We need do any agreement required for the abducted to return. But we really want promises that we will be protected."

Opinion polls now regularly indicate that around the majority of the population want the hostilities to conclude in exchange for the liberation of the hostages.

Palestinian Circumstances

At the site of the music event, grieving people came together to remember the victims.

From there, the sound of aerial bombardments and explosions could be detected just a short distance away in Gaza, where witnesses said the heavy Israeli shelling continued.

In the main city, attacks were documented in the dawn of Tuesday in the west side Tal al-Hawa, sector and zone districts and in the eastern district of that sector, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwest.

"As the evening comes, the dread appears with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a local woman, whose teenage son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack earlier, described.

"My family are afraid of the air strikes. During nighttime we are sleeping together, clinging, especially my smallest child who places his face on me the entire evening."

"Every second we monitor the updates to see the situation. And I'm afraid that this ceasefire will not be finalized and that the conflict will return to us."

Medical Emergency

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City announced it had taken in the corpses of six people by the midday, including three who lost their lives in an Israeli attack in the south part area.

A different healthcare center in the south region of the city indicated another two victims had been brought there. One of them was lost his life by Israeli soldiers while looking for aid to the south region, health workers said.

The region's health ministry reported twenty-five of the {territ
