President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community members gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist public safety in the capital.

“She was the individual that educators hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, told the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always ready to help others.”
